Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a type of treatment that I provide to help clients experiencing a wide array of mental health conditions and emotional challenges. Psychotherapy can help not only alleviate symptoms, but can help identify the psychological root causes of their condition, so the person can hopefully improve their quality of life and have enhanced emotional well-being and healing. This is accomplished through a client-therapist relationship and it is the foundation of psychotherapy. Clients come to me, their therapist, with sensitive personal information, and the client must be able to trust me with their information. A trusting client-therapist relationship and confidentiality are the cornerstones of my practice.
Within a therapeutic relationship, I assist clients by the means of psychotherapy to cope with stressful life events and or life transitions, relational and identity issues, the impact of trauma, pre and post immigration issues, existential distress, medical illness or loss such as the death of a loved one; and specific mental health conditions such as depression and or anxiety. I use an integrated philosophy of different types of psychotherapy depending on the person's individual clinical presentation such as: humanistic, cognitive behavioural therapy, existential and somatic informed approaches.
